Mega Free Eye Care Camp inaugurated at CPCL CBR Housing Complex, Panangudi, Nagapattinam

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) in association with Sankara Nethralaya Eye
Hospital Chennai is organizing a 7-day free eye screening, cataract surgery and free
spectacles camp for the benefit of people living in and around Nagapattinam.
The first eye screening camp was inaugurated on 26.06.2023 at CPCL Cauvery Basin
Refinery (CBR) Housing Complex at Panangudi by Hon’ble Member of Parliament,
Nagapattinam Mr.M.Selvarasu. Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Member of Parliament
lauded the efforts of CPCL in organising the eye camp. He advised the people to make use
of it.
Presiding over the function, Mr.S.Krishnan, Director (Operations), CPCL, emphasized the
importance of eye care. He also called for wider participation by the people of Nagapattinam.
Mr.Johny Tom Varghese, District Collector, Nagapattinam, visited the Eye Screening Camp.
He interacted with the people and advised them to make use of the facility to get their eyes
tested.
At the outset, Mr.S.Ramesh, General Manager (Personnel), CPCL, welcomed the gathering.
More than 100 people were screened at the first day of the eye screening camp. Apart from
CPCL CBR Housing Complex, Eye Screening Camps are also planned in neighbouring
villages like Nagore, Narimanam, Sikkal, Kilvelur and Nagapattinam till 2nd July 2023.
During these Eye Screening Camps, free transport is provided for transporting patients from
different localities who need surgery and spectacles are provided free of cost to the needy
patients. Surgery is done without stitches (Microscopic Small Incision) in Mobile Eye Surgery
Unit stationed at CPCL CBR Housing Complex, Panangudi by doctors from Sankara
Nethralaya Eye Hospital.
