Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) was celebrated with Tree Plantation drive on
08.06.2022. 500 saplings were planted in Amullaivoyal area near Manali where Green
Belt is being developed.
CPCL Managing Director Shri Arvind Kumar presided over the celebration and delivered
the key note address. While addressing the gathering, MD emphasized the importance
of AKAM and the activities carried out by Government of India under various themes viz
Freedom Struggle, Ideas@75, Resolve@75, Actions@75 and Achievements@75.
During the speech, Managing Director recalled the sustainability initiatives taken by
CPCL such as installation of 17.6 MW Wind Mill, Solar Panel, RLNG usage etc and
stressed upon the new initiatives. MD referred the action taken by CPCL to retrofit the
process heaters, boilers and Gas turbines to consume RLNG that helped in reducing
carbon foot print. MD has stressed the need to invest in CPCL’s ambitious project of
Green Hydrogen to reduce Carbon emission.
Managing Director also shared the pioneering efforts taken by CPCL in Water
Management such as implementation and continuous operation of Sewage Reclamation
Plant, Desalination Plant and Recycling of Effluent etc., that has helped in conservation
of fresh water in Chennai.
Managing Director released the Health, Safety & Environment report of 2021-22 and the
report was received by Director (Finance), Director(Operations), Director (Technical) and
Chief Vigilance Officer.
Towards creating awareness among public to avoid single use plastic, distribution of
cotton bags was commenced to the dignitaries of the function and will also be
distributed to public and employees.
Prizes were distributed by the dignitaries to the winners of various Environment
awareness competitions conducted in connection with World Environment Day – 2022.
The function was started with CPCL song and Shri T.N.K. Bapiraju, CGM (Technical)
welcomed the gatherings. Shri K. Rajasekaran, GM (SHEQ) gave vote of thanks.
Employees of CPCL, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel of CPCL, students
from CPCL Polytechnic, staff of Tamil Nadu Forest Department and Public attended the
function.
After the function, saplings were planted by Managing Director, Director (Finance),
Director (Operations), Director (Technical) and Chief Vigilance Officer and other CPCL
officials.
