World Environment Day (WED) was celebrated by CPCL on 5th June 2023 at Amullaivoyal Eco Park Site, Chennai. The theme for World Environment Day 2023 is marked as “Solutions to Plastic Pollution”.
Shri Arvind Kumar, Managing Director, CPCL was the Chief Guest. In his address, MD, CPCL stressed upon awareness and action for the environment and highlighted some of the alternative “Solution to Plastic” such as, usage of reusable produce bags of jute/paper etc. and 3 R’s (Re-use, Reduce and Recycle of plastic products) and avoid single use plastics. He also highlighted the initiatives taken by CPCL which includes, handing over 1000 Nos. of cotton bags to Tamil Nadu Government as part of “Tamil Nadu Manjapai Mission”. He told that, CPCL has supplied two Nos of Cotton bag vending Machines to Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board last month.
Shri Arvind Kumar also released the brochure on WED and distributed the prizes of WED- 2023 Competition winners to employees and students.
As part of the “World Environment Day”, a tree plantation drive was inaugurated and WED-23 – “Solutions to Plastic Pollution” awareness campaign mobile van was flagged off by Shri Arvind Kumar, Managing Director in presence of Shri Rohit Kumar Agrawala, Director (Finance), Shri T.N.K.Bapiraju, CGM (TS), Shri P.Kannan, CGM (T) and other senior officials of CPCL.
Earlier Shri T.N.K.Bapiraju, CGM (TS) administered the Mission Life Pledge and Shri P Kannan CGM (T) addressed the gathering with a welcome note.
