In the year 2018, CPCL signed an MOU with the Cancer Institute,Adyar,Chennai to organize HPV screening for women and create awareness of self-breast examination and oral cancer screening for around 30000 women near CPCL Chennai Refinery at Manali over 5 years. Post detection treatment will also be carried out for families with monthly income less than Rs. 15000/-. As part of the project, a Molecular testing Lab was inaugurated at the Cancer Institute. The Roche HPV Cobas Machine procured under this project for the Molecular lab is one of the first such machines being procured in India and is presently available only in developed countries. CPCL & Cancer Institute together set a wonderful example of collaboration to bring a major change in the field of Cancer screening and treatment. Further, many Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer Awareness and Screening camps are conducted by in association with Pennalam of Sri Dhanvantri Trust at various locations in and around Chennai.
